DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM (FAQs)

WHAT IS THE SCHOOL’S DISTANCE LEARNING OR ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAM?

Our school’s distance learning, e-learning, or online learning program utilizes an internet-based platform where all content and coursework are delivered via a Learning Management System (Google Classroom). This program is designed to help students work in a self-paced and self-directed manner, supported by collaborative guidance from both teachers and parents/guardians.

DO WE NEED A COMPUTER DESKTOP OR LAPTOP IN AN ONLINE LEARNING CLASS?

Not necessarily. While desktops and laptops are ideal, our online classes can also be accessed on other devices like tablets and smartphones. However, we encourage parents to provide devices with larger screens (such as tablets or laptops) to ensure a more effective and comfortable learning experience for their children.

HOW ARE INSTRUCTIONS DELIVERED IN AN ONLINE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT?

Instructions are provided through our online learning platform (Google Classroom), where teachers post advisories, lessons, assignments, and other learning activities. These materials are regularly updated to keep students on track with their studies.

WHY DELIVER THE LESSONS ONLINE?

Delivering lessons online is the safest and most effective approach, particularly given the challenges posed by the pandemic. This method allows students to continue their education from the safety and comfort of their own homes, ensuring their well-being while still receiving quality instruction. It also enables parents and guardians to actively support and be involved in their child's learning process.

Moreover, online learning provides a solution for uninterrupted education, even amidst ongoing health concerns, allowing students to remain engaged with their studies without disruption.

Another significant benefit is the convenience it offers to both students and parents, especially those living in remote areas or abroad. It enables them to study from home while still adhering to the Department of Education (DepEd) curriculum, making education accessible to a wider range of learners, regardless of their geographical location. This flexibility ensures that education is inclusive and adaptable to the diverse needs of all students.

DO LEARNERS NEED TO BE ONLINE EVERYDAY?

Not necessarily. Learners are not required to be online every day, as long as they complete their assignments and tasks on time or before the scheduled deadlines. The program is designed to be self-paced, allowing students the flexibility to work at any time of the day that suits their schedule.

Lessons, assignments, and activities are structured to be completed either on a daily or weekly basis, offering students the flexibility to manage their own learning pace. Additionally, many activities can be completed offline, meaning they do not require an internet connection. Offline tasks might include reading, writing, completing worksheets, or working on projects—these can all be done without the need for online access, ensuring that students can continue their learning even without being connected to the internet.

IS CLASS ATTENDANCE REQUIRED?

Yes, class attendance is tracked through the timely submission of daily or weekly tasks and assignments. Submitting work on time (or ahead of the deadline) will be considered as active participation and attendance in class.

WHAT ABOUT CLASS VIDEO CONFERENCING?

While we generally discourage frequent video conferencing due to potential internet connectivity challenges in some areas, there are occasions when video conferencing may be necessary. These sessions will primarily be used for specific class lessons, special school events, or social activities.

Video conferences are typically scheduled for occasions where live interaction is crucial, such as for group discussions, collaborative projects, or events that foster student engagement and community-building. These virtual meetings provide students with an opportunity to interact with their peers and teachers in real-time, helping to maintain a sense of connection despite the online setting.

Google Meet (Google Classroom) will be used for these sessions, and we will ensure that families are informed in advance of the schedule and requirements for any upcoming video conferences. While not mandatory every day, these sessions will be an essential part of maintaining social interaction and active participation in school activities.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT ABOUT HOW LESSONS ARE PRESENTED?

Our teachers are trained to deliver lessons in a variety of formats. These include PowerPoint presentations, videos, and other interactive tools using online digital resources. Additionally, students will be introduced to various educational websites that will enhance their learning experience.

These textbooks are an integral part of the curriculum and will support students in understanding key concepts and completing their assignments. While many lessons and activities can be accessed online, the textbooks provide valuable resources that complement the digital content and facilitate a more comprehensive learning experience.
